@DiAnne wrote:I recently sat next to a nicely dressed woman at a play. She was well doused in what was probably expensive perfume but for some reason it made me sneeze. I sneezed all through the play. Some times you just have to put up with it as best you can. She was annoyed with me because I was sneezing!
My mother used to wear Estee Lauder and the minute she got in the car I had to roll down the window. That stuff is overpowering.
@DiAnne My ma used to wear Estee Lauder (lusty daughter, I called it)...........and I could smell it from the bus stop when I came home from school...............

Does anybody remember one called Jean Nate? O-MG! That stuff was so awful. It would make me sick (literally) in a hot second. It was from decades ago.

We all, or at least most of us, need someone to talk to about our problems, whether it be a spouse, a best friend or a therapist. For some, that is spiritual.
There are many burdens we should not have to carry alone.

YES! OMG, my first real job, and I had a supervisor who drenched herself in Jean Nate. I couldn't stand to be anywhere near her.

People often made rude comments about fat people,or actually to my face. It was embarrassing and hurtful to me. I honestly would have preferred them keep their rude traps shut when I was around . They could talk about me behind my back ALL day long. I wouldn't know. But in public, especially to an older person...inexcusable. Imagine if that was your loved one, sweet mom who has lost some of her sense of smell as older people do,or anyone you know. Surely you would choose good manners. And yes, good manners and kindness in public go a long way!

Outloud? No,it really is not ok. Why hurt someone's feelings? It's not like they were handcuffed to the lady or in a car on a long ride. It was rude, and showed no class. A store employee should know better. I don't know why people now days feel they should say whatever they think. I probably would have said something to the store manager.
Talk about them behind their back, so that way we have good manners?
There is a glaring difference between someone innocently wearing a fragrance that someone doesn't like, as opposed to being outright rude. This cashier needs to keep her thoughts to herself. Part of her job is to be kind. The rude customer is not even part of the equation, although yes, she is thoughtless in her comments as well. But the cashier was all kinds of wrong for what she said. The rude customer isn't being paid at that time to cater to the customer, but the cashier is. She is a representive of that company and needs to conduct herself in such a manner that reflects well upon the company.

What irks me is being in line somewheres and somebody cuts the cheese or needs deodorant.

If you can't say something nice....don't say anything at all.

Agreed. It was terribly rude to insult this lady while she was in line, especially since she had to check out and couldn't just walk away. I would call that bullying.

Scent is so personal. A good friend of my mom's, wore this scent, and I loved it on her.
