Re: Royal Baby! Princess Beatrice/Edoardo Mozzi

@haddon9,  it's true that the Brits kind of diverge from us in many of their baby name choices.  And that's even more so for the old-school royals, who tend to prefer names that here are still considered fuddy-duddy,  like "Florence" or "Henrietta".

In fact, some of the royals have a horror of what they consider to be too commonly popular or "melodious" sounding names.  They often prefer "dowdy-chic"....

Happy for them, and I like all of the names.

Matilda was the wife of William the Conqueror. And Mattie is a nice nickname.

Matilda... Oh for heaven's sake.

I guess I was out of it, I don't think I even knew she was expecting.

Best wishes to them all. And I sincerely hope they don't settle on Matilda...

I don't care for that name either.  Wondering why Matilda is a popular suggestion for a name.  Is that currently a popular girl's name in the UK?

@haddon9  Don't know about the UK but it was my great grandmothers name who was born in the late 1800's. I guess it was popular then! I think some of those old fashioned names are coming back. Hey what about Mabel? That's what my GG Matilda named her daughter!

@proudlyfromNJ It's what I thought of....a great grandmother or great aunt's name! Smiley Happy

The trend is toward more traditional names among those having babies recently, Lucy, Emma, Penelope...Better by far then Brie, Brittany, Ashley, Brandy...and the creative spellings.

I like both Giovanna and Isabella. Both are pretty names.

It'll be interesting to see what they do name her.

Re: Royal Baby! Princess Beatrice/Edoardo Mozzi

My first thought was didn't they just have a baby several months ago .... I guess that was her sister.    Every time I see the sisters I can't tell which is which; they look so alike.

I wonder if Andrew will visit the new family, or will stay in hiding.  lol
