Root canal for dog?

Vet just cleaned my dog's teeth. He had an i fection & bacteria had collected a deep fold of his lip.

Now vet says he needs a root canal because the tooth is a molar-to the tune of $1005.

I didn't even have a root canl & am still eating fine.

Have you heard to root canals for dogs?
