IF you do decide to use it, make very sure that you only get it on areas where you want hair to grow.
When it was first launched, it was Rx only. I worked for the company that made it, and the patient product information team was located near my area. They got a call from a very angry woman who said it had run down her face every time she used it, and while she didn't grow any hair on her head, she apparently had begun to grow a rather unsightly beard. Of course, she wanted compensation for her troubles, when all she needed to have done was been more careful at the time of application and/or washed her face after applying the product!

@Reva wrote:Has anyone tried Rogaine for thinning hair? I used to have super thick hair but have had a lot of thinning over the past few years. I lose a lot of hair when I wash it. My hormone levels are normal and my dermatologist said it's a common part of aging (I'm 67)and suggested trying Rogaine. It's quite expensive and wonder if any of you ladies have tried it. I've tried Biotin supplements but don't see much difference. Any helpful hints? Reva
I'm "not hairy" It seems to be a hereditary thing in our family. I have no hair on my arms or legs anymore. I haven't shaved my legs in more than 15 years ... no hair to shave. On those areas, it really doesn't matter.
So, I decided to use Minoxidil on a Q-tip every day on my eyebrows. Eyebrows matter. Gave up after 6 months, but keep wondering if I should have done it for a longer period of time. Hey, it's worth a try .... covering all the possible bases, so to speak. JMO

I have noticeable hair loss on the top of my head and recently started using Costco's minoxidil 5% at night only. I also suffer from severe anemia (and have for years) and hair loss is a side effect of iron deficiency. I am taking iron supplements now and my dermatologist says that hair recovery is possible by resolving my iron deficiency, but it can take up to a year.
The minoxodil specifically states that it will not work if hair loss is due to mineral/vitamin deficiencies. I really hope that my hair loss is from the anemia as using minoxidil daily is a PITA and something I don't want to do for the rest of my life to keep hair on my head.
It's still too early to see if the minoxidil is working, so I am using Joan River's Great Hair Day to cover some of the shiny scalp that shows where I need some hair.

Have u tried changing ur shampoo. Not using conditioner or dyes or getting perms.
I always had a lot of hair - it was short and wavy. I had chemo 14 yrs ago and my hair fell out. Once I was over the chemo, most of my hair grew back - and u can't even tell that I had hair loss. I'm now 79 yrs and I don't lose much hair.

I use it twice a day and it has stopped the daily shedding. I am really loosing lots ofi hair. RA and medications, and such. I do not use foam. The foam didnt work and was messy and dirtied my hair. I do not wash hair everyday, just every 3rd day. I use the liquid. I jse the dropper carefully making sure to get on scalp only. Then place fingers under hair at roots and lightly massage.
my dermatolagist said to never use the womens Rogaine. Mens strength. Also I have found the costo kirkland brand does not work for me. I get the brand name Rogaine thats it.
