The 2024 tree has just been revealed!

It will come from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts,  a 74 foot Norway Spruce and the first tree from the state since 1959.

It will be taken down November 7th and the lighting festivities are December 4th.

Beautiful tree, but it looks like it's just a tree in someone's yard.

I always thought the Rockefeller Center trees came from tree farms.

A beautiful and stately tree, seems a shame to cut it down.

The trees often come from private homeowners who are contacted by the Rockefeller Center gardener who scouts the region for months looking for candidates.  People also contact Rockefeller Center directly to submit their tree for donation consideration. 

The family/homeowner are invited to attend the tree lighting as guests.

Huge tree. I wonder if owners were afraid it may fall on their house someday during a storm and decided to donate it. It looks healthy tho from the pic. Kinda sad it will be cut down.

The house is the oldest one in West Stockbridge,  built in 1763.

The Rock Ctr trees are also donated to Habitat for Humanity after the holidays and are used to help build homes.  Makes me feel a little better about it being cut down.

Regardless of its origin, the tree looks the same every year, once it is covered in tens of thousands of lights.  A few times I have been lucky enough to see the truck transporting it to the Center - always mini parade with a huge flatbed truck in the middle.

It's a beautiful tree, perfectly shaped.
