We are watching the PGA Championship. It has been raining yesterday and today. Does Rochester typically have a wet spring and snowy winters? The area looks beautiful, and I would enjoy seeing it.

I think this is the worst weather in which I have seen a golf tounament continue to be played. The golfers don't appear to be comfortable playing in these conditions, and the quality of many of their strokes shows it. There doesn't appear to be the usual big crowd of weekend spectators, so the gate moneys will be diminished. Just an unfortunate weather situation for everyone present.

I wouldn't go to a golf tournament today

Come visit us! Lots to see and do here in Upstate NY. As for the weather, well, it is always a bit dicey. We had a very early and very warm April (80degrees!!) and now sadly we are paying for it....and so are the players at Oak Hill.

@On It I can tell you that is can get very snowy. My husband went to RIT in the early 1970s and he told me that there were tunnels connecting the buildings so one didn't have to go outdoors in the winter due to all of the snow.

I watched On Patrol Live last night. They were at 5 or 6 locations around the country, including the desert in Nye County Nevada.it seemed to be raining every place they visited.
The only place it hasn't rained is at MY HOUSE.

Rochester is one of the areas DH has been offered a job and twice we have turned it down for varying reasons. Ironically, it's an area we WANT to move and possibly retire to. We've known a few people who grew up there and returned to retire and all of them are lovely individuals.

Upstate New York is one of the most beautiful places in this country and we have been to all 50 states. However, to live there you better like snow and winter!

Curious to know why you would want to retire there. There is an article in the NY Times about a family who bought a house just outside of Rochester. They paid about $250,000 for it which is reasonable but the taxes were approximately $8,000, which is not. NYS is a high tax state.
