The linked article deals with robocalls received in Sandy Hook and also references similar calls received in Aurora shortly after that shooting.
NEWTOWN -- Survivors of the Sandy Hook massacre who heard shots echoing through the halls of the elementary school also received phone calls recently from the NRA urging their support against gun control measures -- a lobbying effort that some believe targeted the local community.
Mary Ann Jacob, a librarian at the school who rushed 18 students into a supply closet on the morning of the Dec. 14 shooting, said she received at least three calls in the past week from the NRA as well as a postcard she promptly threw into the trash.
The phone message, she said, described how state Rep. Mitch Bolinksy, a Republican lawmaker whose district includes only Newtown, is "trying to take away your Second Amendment rights."
"The message was purposefully meant for the people he serves," Jacob said. "They were clearly targeting the town of Newtown."
Officials with the NRA offered no comments on the issue Monday despite repeated requests.
