I'm so fed up with the scam phone calls, that I pretty much keep my phones off most of the time. If it's important, I will hear someone leave a message and then answer. And, most of my friends and family members have iPhones, so they just iMessage me if the want to reach me in a hurry. Those messages come right through on my iMac, iPad or iTouch.
It's irritating to have to do this. But things are so much quieter now.

Somehow we also receive many calls from "out of area" with no number at all listed to block.
You can block out of area calls without a number if you have a panasonic (maybe other models also) just goggle it and it will give you directions. I blocked this, private caller, my own number and 000-000-0000 . It takes awhile after you start blocking numbers but I get maybe 1-2 calls a week at most now.
Many thanks, redhead handbag queen! I do have a Panasonic and will google for the instructions.

2cockterscat, sorry I didn't get back to this topic to see your post. Chickenbutt is correct. The model I purchased thru Amazon was Panasonic KXTG6845B. The 5 stands for number of headsets but I would imagine the 2B model would work the same. If you take a look at Amazon and scroll down, it compares Panasonic phones and there is a comparison for # of blocked calls allowed. This one does have 250. My Comcast cable service only could accommodate 20 so this is much better. I have really stopped all calls except the ones from my own #

Until your remark, I didn't realize some phones had this function built in. We felt so harassed, I was diverting all calls to our fax and considering cancelling the land line.2cockterscat, sorry I didn't get back to this topic to see your post. Chickenbutt is correct. If I didn't live so rural I'd get rid of my landline unfortunately, cell service and wifi leave a lot to be desired out here. Last week I noticed my sister put a post on FB saying that she cancelled her landline bc she was tired of paying Verizon $50/month to receive what basically is now only telemarketer calls and those that know her have her cell number and to use that.
I get a TON of calls from the same recorded voice and incoming always shows the number and the state only. They leave a message on the recorder and guessing from it playing so much, you cannot understand or hear the beginning - the last part is "this is my last notice as to how to lower my bills - as it relates to the stimulus". Last notice my a@@! I get this very same call at least 2 times a day, always showing a different state and number but I never answer my phone EVER unless I know who it is or unless I'm getting a return call from someone I called first.
