I feel the same way. It's disgusting that the gossip vultures began circling minutes after the announcement of his death. I hope it won't cloud the memories of the special, caring, compassionate, gifted man who left us far too soon.

May be the details of the circumstances will help someone else. I won't qualify that as gossip.

Not everyone knows that.

Some people think it's a sign of a moral failure...if you just work hard enough - you can ""snap out of it.""

I doubt that his death will change that.

You never know what may lead someone to greater awareness & understanding.

We see that here almost every day.

That's true.

I'm not holding my breath for a great new national understanding of depression and mental illness because of Mr. Williams' death.

Here is another reason for thinking before we speak on these threads. No one knows what trials and tribulations a person is going through. And words can and do hurt.......

I can say I am glad the Q is cleaning up these boards. It's about time.......

What does this have to do with Robin Williams?

My reason for saying that was because none of us knows when a person is going through a serious depression.......stop and think about it. Apparently you didn't think before you typed your post to me......this is what I am talking about.

I will look for signs here then that attitudes have changed.

I don't know the last time I've seen such an outpouring over a celeb's death.

Are the news channels talking about it nonstop too?

Maybe some of us find it particularly ironic and sad that a man who brought so much humor to our lives was unable to find it for himself. He gave us a gift and we were powerless to return the favor. Such is the strange relationship we have with celebrities.

Why not turn on the news yourself and you could answer your own question?

Because I don't have access. Jeez...I hope your day gets better.
