I think the jury got it wrong too!!!!!I am on You Tube right now listening to both of the songs, the drums are similar but no not a right decision to me....

I would think the jury has to do more than just listen. In order to make a case, they'd have to show the written music, bar by bar, for written similarity.
As a hobby, I parse songs so that I can record them myself. This practice has led me to be able to more easily distinguish each separate instrument, each vocal line, etc. more easily than the average person just listening to music and giving their opinion. I don't proclaim to be an expert but, to my ear, there is not enough similarity between the two songs to merit a lawsuit. The percussion is similar and the mood of the song is similar. It is not like a critical hook has been copied (as in "He's So Fine" and "My Sweet Lord"). This sets a very bad precedent for musical creativity IMO.
ETA: I just noticed Justina's post #20. Justina, that John Legend song you are talking about is "Save Room." You are spot on about the notes being almost identical to the opening line of "Stormy" by the Classics IV -- "You were the sunshine, baby, whenever you smiled, but I call you Stormy today." Unbelievable!

I thought that one little part sounded similar, but, really, with all the millions of songs out there how could anyone be sure when they are writing a song that there isn't something similar or that the song doesn't have similar parts? I think that this will just keep getting more out of hand.
Quite honestly, I never liked that song and I had a bad vibe from it from the beginning. I didn't like the video, how it was presented -- nothing about it. It seemed very derogatory and seedy.
Later on, Thicke's performances kind of just reinforced this. And now him saying that he really did not write it all and putting all the blame on Pharrell -- that's just bad --- really bad.
I also think that the family getting the award is just looking for a quick buck.

Robin should wish he never heard of either one by now. What is he Thicke? Yes that's it.

Very interesting post puglet. Thank you for sharing.
I agree about the precedent. I hope they appeal and win.

I think so too, but I think he's talented. I also think MG's song was far different.

Just from reading articles in the last several days, there's a slow ground swell of established, revered artists that are getting ready to fight this. This is FAR from over.

I agree.
He's so gross I couldn't even be a juror because I can't stand his high pitched whiny voice.
Ugh. My ears and my eyes!
