For the last 20 years, I've suffered with "freaking out" while driving - and also being a passenger in a car. Prior to that, I loved going everywhere in a car. It's much worse when I drive on the freeway (I live in southern Calif). Fortunately, I don't have to get on the freeway very often. I get major panic attacks - and want to cry.

I'm 75 yrs young - and enjoy spending most of my time in my house. I read an article that said this mostly happens to women and starts during menopause -- that's what happened to me.

It's the speed, the lanes are much narrower than years ago, seeing all the cars around me -- and they go so fast.

@kivah

Yes the cars do go so very fast, and will not let you get over in the other lane when needed.

You do need to become a defensive driver in that matter.

My family always had me drive in the city traffic San Fran, Sacramento, San Diego...

they trusted my abilities.

When my son join the Marine Core and was sent to war, that is when I started to have panic attacks, (I did not know until years later)

They do go away and driving is so easy now, that I realized what I was going through.

I hope you get over the anxiety, it can be debilitating.

Gods Blessing to you.
