Re: Rite Of Passage-Graduation Edition

JeanLoiseFinch every summer we made the trip to Chicago from Philly to see my Grand mom and we used to stop at a place called Sand Dunes in Michigan. We would have a blast rolling down the dunes. This was in the mid Sixties. Wondering if it s the same place.?

Re: Rite Of Passage-Graduation Edition

i grew up on Eastern LI.  our HS graduating class was less than 100 kids.  graduation was not a huge deal.   i had a boyfriend and he came to my family graduation party.  i was 18 he 19.   i used to make dinners for him at his apt. he was a caretaker at a resort.  i waitressed.

the weeks before college started were the big parties.  kids left for school around labor day then.  there were hotels  and beach bars and parties we all went to -  drinking age was 18 then.   my school started mid-Sept.   i remember having a lump in my throat the weeks before leaving. i was so scared to leave home.  i acted like it was NBD.

Re: Rite Of Passage-Graduation Edition

Definitely not in my family! No big party, I don't even remember what we did after graduation. I was leaving for airline training school in 2 weeks, so nothing too exciting happened I guess. And when we graduated from airline school I guess all headed to our assigned locations, but I had already been placed in Newark 6 weeks before that. I think I got my diploma in the mail-or rather my mom did! I've never had a party for me other than my second wedding....
