And to think all those times I went to the zoo and watched in amazement at the animal acts. I never realized how they must have been treated so cruel in order to be so well trained.

I agree; would never attend a circus, nor a rodeo. If they want to do crazy tricks and performances, it shouldn't be the animals who have no voice.
