@chrystaltree For the same reason DD's didn't.........no reception. Town in this case is a dozen houses, a fire hall, a gas station/convenience store along a short stretch of 2 lane state road.

I had something similar happen to me about a month ago. I went out to run errands and my car just stopped. Luckily, I was less than 1/2 mile from home and I did have cell service, so I called DH. I was only able to get halfway off the side of the road, and people were just flying by. Nobody stopped to see if I needed help. DH, when he got there, was able to push me completely out of the road.
While I was waiting on him I called AAA. They were a bit of a disappointment in that you have to go through an automated messaging service entering all sorts of things and still they get the address wrong. Finally, I actually got t talk to a person and they sent out a tow truck.
$1300 computer module.

Our town has no police or even a constable. No one patrols the area. 9-1-1 would get us the State Police and the barracks in our county is a good 21/22 miles away.
Let's just say if I called 9-1-1 to report someone breaking in it would take the a good 30 minutes to get here over country roads.

It is hard to make changes to accommodate our current situation when we have a kind heart and want to help. I'm glad it worked out for everyone.

We had the same thing happen with our truck but fortunately we were in a shopping plaza. Tow truck came but he could only take one person in his truck. I had to take an Uber home and they towed the truck to our house. It was a Sunday so we couldn't have it towed to the Ford dealership Our house with attached garage is on an incline and the tow truck couldn't just back up the driveway. The truck driver was a super nice guy and he called a friend to come over and between the two of them and my husband they were able to get the truck close enough to our garage to push it in and be able to close the garage door. It was a very hot day and they wouldn't take any money but I did provide them with bottles of cold water.
When it was time to take it to the dealership we had to call another tow truck. Our problem was a computer module too but ours ran us $1800.00.
They had to order it and it took over 5 working days to get to the dealership and another 3 days to finish the truck.
We had gone out to buy paint at Benjamin Moore so we could paint our bathroom. Fortunately we have AAA so we weren't charged for the towing but between the Uber and the truck repair I told my husband that was one of the most expensive paint jobs that we had ever done.

DD stopped and she asked if we had cell reception. She was on her way to work and her car just stopped. She was 12 miles from home and 10 miles from work . She had a shirt on with the name of a restaurant we knew.
No cell service, of course. We took her to the gas station/convenience store in town and she called her Mom and then back to her car to wait for her.
She was beside herself, she said no one would stop. She kept thanking us. We told her it was no problem and it wasn't.
I know stopping can be dicey but had she been my young stranded kid I hope someone would help her.
I love reading your stories, you and DD, are good people. People like I was raised with.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Glad it worked out. You and DD were very kind.
We had had the same thing happen to our SUV several years ago. No one stopped. We were 150 miles from home. We did have cell reception. It was a super hot August Sunday. Towed to our local dealership, then needed a ride home. Very kind AAA driver took both of us, then also took us home (15 more miles) At least I had AAA plus. We gave the guy $50. He was grateful, but we were even more grateful. Needed a new engine! 100% covered under my Hyundai warranty.
