I like the two cars option.  Cars are about as close as you are likely to get to others not in your family.   And the air is circulating in those close quarters. Plus it's close quarters for what I call an extended period of time.  I wouldn't feel awkward about it at all.     Just an easy and smart precaution to take.

I'm with you - go to the restaurant in separate cars.  I hope they're not offended.  The only way I'd go in the same car is if one of you has a large SUV with a third seat and one couple rides in front and the other couple rides in the third seat.

When we go out to dinner with friends we always take seperate cars.  Always have long before this.  Thinking back,  When my parents would go out with friends they always rode together, the men in the front seat and the women in the back seat.  My how times have changed.

You have to do whats right for you but to me taking 2 cars is definately what is the right thing to do and I think everyone would or at least should understand that.

I'm only riding in the car with my husband and my mom. And I really don't want to ride with my husband, as he works full time still, but I do. I won't even get in a car with my adult son right now, as he works two jobs, as well as is not staying home or wearing a mask.

It's no so much about me being afraid of getting sick, I'm worried about my 84 year old mom, as she lives next door, and I do a lot with and for her, so I don't want to bring the virus to her.

That's scary about your son not staying home or wearing a mask.  I hope he's not around your 84 year old mom @Mominohio .

Separate cars make good sense.

As well the car ride, has the seating arrangement at the tables been worked out?

I do the same thing. Tomorrow for example, I’m meeting for outdoor dining with a friend who lives around the corner. We’ll take separate cars.

Yes the restaurant has outdoor seating spaced 6 feet apart and all staff and guests wear a mask except when seated at the table.  If they do not comply, they can loose their liquor license.  Smart move my opinion.  Crowded bars, restaurants and gatherings where no precautions are taken are what is causing alot of the nationwide problem right now.
