I loved Dr. Kildare and bought a "doctor" shirt like he wore LOL.   My favorite series with him was Shogun, watched it several times.  RIP!!!

@Hoovermom Oh how I wanted one of those shirts!  I was about 12 years old and they were the "in" thing at the time. But my mom wasn't going to spend her money on a doctor shirt. šŸ™

Oh heavens who remembers Dr. Kildare/Ben Casey doctor shirts in the 1960's?  The shirts were called by who was your favorite.

Simplicity even had a pattern to sew those shirts.

And yes I had one. 🤣

RIP šŸ•Æļø

Re: Richard Chamberlain

[ Edited ]

Even though Richard Chamberlain was good in his medical series I will always remember Chad Everett as Dr. Joe Gannon on "Medical Center". Chamberlain was a good actor. RIP.

I spoke with my older sister yesterday and asked her about the "doctor shirt."

She confirmed it was a huge thing at the time and -- yes -- she had one.  (We lived in Chicago.)

She was a fan of both Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey (she is the sister who had a bigger crush on Chamberlain but married the guy who looked like Vince Edwards).

She knew everything about the shirts and said that if you were a Kildare fan, you wore it buttoned up.

Richard Chamberlain in Dr. Kildare (1961-66, NBC)

If you were a Casey fan, you unbuttoned those top buttons.
