Re: Richard Branson does it!

I think there are more implications to this than just a bucket list item for the rich.

I think this spacecraft will eventually transport workers to infrastructure platforms set up at the edge of space. I can see a solar energy collection point. I can see missile defense platforms, zero gravity research labs, etc.

On the bucket list side- think of the entertainment and leisure value. Hotels, restaurants, even new "space sports" could be created. When enough space craft is built and enough flights are taking off daily, the price is sure to come down.

I think there are endless possibilities, some we can't yet imagine.

Re: Richard Branson does it!

I looked up the movie. Sounds kind of depressing!

Branson is saying he will devote his life to using this technology to help heal the planet. Hopefully there won't be a need for the super rich to establish themselves away from a dying earth 🌎

@JamandBread

It's actually a pretty good movie.

I still want to learn all that's out there, about space.  It's the "final frontier" after all. *wink*.

Re: Richard Branson does it!

My level of "I don't care" on this one is off the charts.  I mean good for him I guess, and I'm glad they got back safely of course but the whole space travel thing....I don't care.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Yea, he beat  Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk  as the 1st in space.

England should be proud of him.  Good day for them today.  If England wins the Euro 2020...well even better.

@songbird    England???  It's New Mexico taxpayers who made this possible. From some of the poorest counties in the state too, supporting the billionaire.

 I thought of the same . I suspect when all turns to looking like the movie "  Road Warrior " here on earth all the rich and elite will have their own " Elysium " on another planet or a space station. I don't think to many years will pass before this might be a reality . Society  as we know it is on a rapid decline.

Yes -- and thank you for pointing it out.
