My general dentist does not even do extractions, let alone implants. He did refer to an oral surgeon for both procedures.

Some general dentists do implants. Dentistry is just like HH was saying about nursing...you can work in whatever area you want. Dentists and hygienists can take advanced courses if they want to focus on certain areas of dentistry.
