I haven't heard anything about what the Canadians are doing to control these fires. I'm assuming that because they are raging in mostly areas that are not heavily populated, they are just letting them burn. Any Canadians with some uptodate info????

Another website to see smoke plumes in your area in real time is
fire.airnow.gov
Just put in your location and you see a map with smoke plumes and their intensity.

We just cancelled a long time planned trip to Boston and area.
I know its not NYC or Philly but next week is uncertain and the window to cancel reservations is approaching. We are trying to resell Red Sox tickets.
A few weeks ago, I was discussing air purifiers and there was not much interest. We have 2 honeywell and 1 rabbit going 24-7.

NYC now has the worst air quality in the world! This is really bad and my heart goes out to all affected. Stay inside and only go,out if absolutely necessary abd wear masks, You can't even see the city skyline.

I hate to say it, but this isn’t new if you’ve lived in the west, especially the past few years.
@bikerbabe...So, what do you do to help freshen and filter the air in your home during the wildfires...We don't have an Air Purifier...We have CA and I turned it on for a short while as I was told this would help...We are in the Northeast.

Unless it's a N95, masks are useless, that's been reported all day.

Just saw on World News Tonight that the air quality in NYC is 484 on a scale from 1-500. It is 217 where I live and I am suffering. I can't imagine what it is like in NYC.

Hi @SilleeMee ![]()
This Fire Map webpage you offered up was very interesting, & very telling, esp to someone of whom this smoke is already present!
Thank you for sharing this.
