My version of camping includes luxury indoor facilities and 5 star restaurants. I could NOT survive without modern conveniences and I make no apologies LOL I'm super impressed by people who can, I'm just not one of them. DH and I like to watch Naked and Afraid. I wouldn't make it to the drop off point! But if I found myself in a position of having to rely on anything less than modern conveniences, I'd want my grandson with me. That boy could survive and thrive in the wild.

if you have ever had to care for someone temporarily or permanently that could not get out of bed to use a regular toilet, toilet paper doesnt cut it in that situation. it is much easier to get them clean with some type of a soft cloth.....it is also more gentle and warm water can be used.
I do care for someone who is bedbound, and there are disposable wipes for that. Used along with a no-rinse foam cleanser, they work great.
If I used a cloth for that, I could never bring myself to wash it and reuse, nor could I wash other clothes in that washer afterwards. We've been doing it this way for a few years now with very good results.

.....and everyones wants or needs in this situation are different.
i catered to what she wanted and what was most COMFORTABLE for her. she didnt and doesnt want to use wipes and fill up her trash cans with them. they also were irritating to her skin.
what happens when their clothing gets soiled or their sheets get soiled? do you just throw them away?
i had babies and now a new grandson who soils his clothing almost daily. no way can i NOT use the washing machine to get them really clean and sanitized.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!😁 We are spoiled now with disposable everything, and although I believe in reduce, reuse, and recycle, and composting, I just CANNOT reuse TP.🥰
~~~All we need is LOVE💖
I do agree with you about all of our situations being different. And we have to do whatever is best for our loved ones and ourselves as caretakers. No right way, just whatever gets the job done in our circmstances.
Personally, I use a lot of disposable items - XL disposable pads under him and diapers. Disposable wipes. Not gonna use cloth to wipe his bottom as long as those disposable wipes are doing the trick. (And I don't consider baby poop to be nearly as bad as adult poop, but I used disposable diapers for that too.)
Peace to you in your caregiving journey.
Never in a million. Enough said.
Even though I washed diapers in the washing machine, I still would not want to wash reusable toilet paper because the bacteria might linger in the wash tub. I guess one could use bleach. If wishing to protect the environment, use recycled toilet paper such as that sold at Trader Joes. OK, the rolls are smaller and the paper thin and not as soft as Charmin, but it works ok.
