They are unacceptable in studies performed or simple exploratory reporting because they are biased and because the person doing the observing is limited by their own small world.
No, they're not.
They're meaningless to you because you have already condescendingly opined that OR has "led a sheltered life" as a way to marginalize her.
Where do you think you are posting?
This is a shopping channel forum.
I don't think there are any studies being performed here or recorded here ATM.
Her opinions and comments, while unpopular, are as worthy as anyone else's IMHO.

No, that's not what I meant. I understand you wish to cause a fight, but you are off on the wrong track again.

Please don't make things up, it's unseemly.
I never said the poster led a sheltered life as you have quoted me.
I did say anyone using personal accounts is reporting what is in their small world. That's everyone, unless one is in the business of producing professional studies.

In other words, anecdotal observations may hold truth for the person doing the observing, but they bear no relevance to the facts that emerge from scientific studies.

They may by coincidence, but we can't assume our personal accounts are true for everyone.
OR seems to have experience with numerous people who, after retiring, sit in front of their TVs and wait to die, but that doesn't mean all retired people do that. It also doesn't mean anyone else does that, although some might.

I should add, there's nothing wrong with personal accounts, probably most of us here have shared some. They're interesting, sometimes fun and sometimes informative, but they aren't true for everyone.

OR has led a very sheltered life.
You didn't say OR has led a sheltered life? There it is right there.
I don't and didn't make anything up.
You really shouldn't falsely accuse people of things just because you dislike them.
I'm sitting on my back deck, listening to my new wind chime I bought today.
It's lovely.
Let OR have her opinion and we're good.

I did say that in a different post on a different day. And if I recall correctly, it was a different topic about work friendships after retirement.
No one has stopped her from having her opinion as you claim, but her non-factual and illogical assumptions are wrong, and I have the right to point that out, even though you disagree that I do

I see you went back and edited your reply.
You apologized then removed it.
Your statement that OR has "led a sheltered life" is right on this thread. It's quoted, above.
Yes you did say it.
LOL

@teainlondon wrote:Thanks for agreeing, Surferwife. I can't go back to work. I have had a series of health problems that resulted in my retirement. I had never been a sickly person, so these problems took me by surprise. I was a teacher for seniors in a private exclusive high school, and also taught freshmen in college. So I planned on teaching until I dropped dead in the classroom. However, my health stopped all of that, and I'll never recover from having to retire. I loved every minute and lived to teach.
.
There is a need for you out in the world! So many of our students are struggling to graduate, or graduate and they are not college ready!
I realize you wrote that you have health problems, but I wonder if there is any way that you could help out in the schools in your community? You have so much to give in experience and knowledge.
I am a tutor in a college prep program in high school. I see how much need there is every day.
Don't let yourself go through one more day being sad about retiring. If you are able to get out of the house for any time period at all, there is so much you could be contributing in your community. ![]()

I know this thread is older but I just had to laugh @Bird mama when I read your post.. I have 28 years in the health insurance industry and I am retiring in May. I can't wait, going to work evey day has been like walking through the gates of he.., every day. Jobs are being outsourced more every year. The company used to take excellent care of their customers and their employees. No more. Everyone is so stressed it just sucks the life out of me and I am counting down. 60 days to go. I'm retiring on my birthday a few years earlier than I had planned but I've planned financially and am ready that way as much as one can be. I will not miss the bs at all. I have a full life outside of work. Consider yourselves lucky if you have or had a job you love.
