Retirees, do you lose track of the day/date?

I emailed DD and referenced today was Tuesday.  I got back "Aah, Mom it's Wednesday!"

Oops.

For some reason i remember appointments I have  but if there are weeks in between them, I don't pay attention to the day or date.  I guess I just know I don't have to worry about it,  makes no difference if it's a Tues. or a Wed.

I can remember the day but not the date. Every time I write a check I have to look at a calendar to see what the date is. 😉😳🥴

Reading the newspapers is the first thing I do; of course the date is at the top of each page.

Lunch with various friends is another "to do" so I check my calendar for whom and where each day.

Volunteering is very important to me and is scheduled on my calendar. As are my Dr's. appointments, PT appointments, and social activities in the evenings.

I'm always checking the date and time of activities or I'd never be on time for anyone or anything. Don't think other people would appreciate waiting on me time after time.

  • Yes, and since there are no landmarks in my life, I can't remember if something happened 3 or 5 years ago.  Others with more eventful lives may not have this problem.  My life is dullsville.

Oh yes,, especially when I first wake up.  I have to remember what I did yesterday since I tend to be structured - have certain chores I do on certain days..  But its so nice not to dread Monday morning anymore!

I do keep a to-do list on a laptop NOTE to remind me of appointments,  things I need to do.

It happens...........  I keep a calendar on my desk with my appointments and "to do" lists.  I get a cup of coffee and then check this calendar first thing every morning.

Days during the week feel the same to me, so I've been known to think it's a day that it's not.  Even though I'm retired, however, Saturday and Sunday still have a different feel to them (each feels different from the other, too).
