We are so used to cheap labor in this country for our service community. Just like all of those migrant workers who were deported in some states (there were a couple of states that rounded up the migrant workers & deported them) and then the fruit & vegetables ROTTED in the sun because the companies couldn't get Americans to harvest due to the low wages.
And why would they want to work (regardless of wage) when they can get a welfare check for doing nothing? So many have no pride to make their own way, work their way up in life. So sad, and it is only going to get worse.
As far as, "what if we all had to rely on a service job and tips for a living", thank God, we don't. It's called capitalism...... what our country was based on.
At least for now, this tipping or not is up to the restaurant owner. Let's hope it stays that way and that Big Brother doesn't get his nose involved in this, too.

I think, a rose by any other name is still a rose. Big whoop dee doo! You don't have to tip because the tip has been factored into their charges. My husband and I are generous tippers; if service is excellent, we will tip much more than 15%. Heck, we tip 15% for bad service. If we went to that particular restaurant, the staff would end up with LESS money because we would have no way of showing our appreciation for excellent service. That system might significantly decrease the incomes of restaurant staff who work in upscal restaurants. I don't see it becoming a trend. I also don't know anyone who objects to tipping.

Actually, it isn't what this country is based on.
