If you like pastrami, cornbeef-there is no place like the Carnegie Deli.

Re: Restaurant recommendations in NYC.

Am I the only one that prefers Katz' Deli over Carnegie Hall?

Granted it isn't anywhere close to Times Square but -

"I'll have what she's having is ..." spoken by Estelle Reiner, mother of Rob Reiner who directed When Harry Met Sally.

I remember the pastrami sandwich at Stars Deli YEARS ago.  I worked a couple blocks from there and my boyfriend and I would go there on Fridays for lunch.

I don't think it's there anymore.  It was SO good.  Better than Carnegie.

Yes. Katz is good. Location, location, one is lower eastside and the other midtown. What is important is that the deli should be an authenitic one not just some luncheon counter advertising NY deli.

MyGirlsMom, I agree with you. I've been to Carmine's twice.  I'll add Carnegie Deli.  Great experiences!

Ellen's Stardust Diner is awesome. Senor' Frogs, Juniors, Guy Fieri's...just a few we went to last October on my very first trip to NYC!
