Blue Fin and Trattoria Trecolori are great choices. I also love Becco they have a 20 meal where you sample the 3 pastas of the day. They are changed up all the time and have been delicious everyime. For my 50th birthday my sister took me to the Russian Tea Room for brunch. The food was amazing!
Have fun!

I agree with some of the comments regarding splurging for dinner. You will have much more time to sit, relax and enjoy a great meal.
Carnegie Deli is perfect for lunch. For dinner, Capitol Grill, Rue 57, the one @Bridgegal recommended by Rockefellar Center, Top of the Rock - great for drinks, Tuscany.
Gee, there are so many great places in all of the boroughs to eat. Enjoy your trip!

There are many great sugeestions here.
John's Pizzeria on 44th (right across the street from Phantom) is usually faster than Carmines. (same street). If you go make sure you take a look in the back room. There is a stain glass dome ceiling as in its former life, the building was a church. It's been featured on the Food Network.
Have fun and enjoy the shows.

Eat in another area. There are much better restaurants in NY. Times Square caters to tourists. Nothing very good in that area.

There are so many choices
le Bernardin, French and very respected, around a long time
Becco
Aureole
Lillies
Da Marino (but they were closed for alterations last time I passed)
Oceana
Del Frisco's (good but too crowded, noisy and getting out before theater can be tricky)
21 Club always good and nice for people watching...
Sardi's is still pretty good and interesting
Barbetta- old fashioned, good Italian; the Pope ate there
Southern Hospitality- Justin Timberlake helped create it but not an owner, Memphis BBQ but over on 9th, Hell's Kitchen so a bit of a walk back
Virgils, not fancy but good BBQ and around for years
The Lambs Club
OLunneys
Gallaghers

Michael Jordon's
You might want to check out menupages and yelp. Just do the www in front and go. Menupages can narrow it down for you by areas.

@chrystaltree wrote:The question made me smile. I don't think OP knows how big NYC is or how many restaurants there are or the variety of restaurants. Cute question.
A better question might be 'what should I avoid in the TImes Sq area?' !!!
@Ibby114Nothing. Times Square is NOT like it used to be. It's still the crossroads to the world. Those characters have separate places to play for pay.
