That's ranching.  It's a life and it's your income.  You go look for them in the snow and rain and ice, you call the vet out and wait for him, pick up calves and warm them up in the pickup, haul hay through a foot of snow, break ice on the pond every day.

It's tons of fun!  LOL!!!  Thse calves seem to be born in the worst weather.  Our cattle were almost 20 miles away, which didn't make things better.  It's hard and like this photo shows, you are responsible for them and they need help sometimes.

Notice when you see cattle if they have a lot of trees or spaces where they can get some shelter from the weather.  I get crazy when I see cows that don't!

Or cattle that or underfed.  That's hard to see too.

@Foxxee  Thank you so much for sharing. I just loved it and immediately thought of my son. He is studying to be a Large Animal Vet and he has cows and horses that he does so much for. I ordered him a frame copy for Christmas. Will arrive by the 16th.

Edited to add, I ordered the 24 x 20

@qvcfreak    Perfect gift for your son.  Maybe some day it will have a place of honor in his veterinary office.

Happy I posted it.  Didn't know I'd be helping someone buy a Christmas present.

It's perfect for someone owning cows and horses and a large animal veterinarian, too.

Let us know what he says when he opens it.

Thank you ladies and I will post a pic when it arrives and it will be the last gift he opens. I'm saving it for last. I just love it and I thought the same thing @Kachina624  about hanging it one day in his office.

Thanks for posting @Foxxee .  Very touching and realistic.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

What a great picture. It reminds me of the rescue of 2 kittens shortly after we moved here in 2000.

Bitter cold and blowing lots of snow. Before heading to 1 of my Adult League hockey games, I was laying on my stomach, scooping snow with 1 hand, a flashlight in the other.

There were 2 kittens under our lawnmower/tools etc shed. I finally was able to see them, and I then went back up to the house, got a big bowl of food and put it where they could reach it.

Went back to the house and got dressed to head to the rink for our game. They were warm under there and I made sure they had plenty of food. Eventually was able to humanely trap them and they became 2, of our up to 13, indoor only felines.

That rescue I will never forget. Thanks for letting pet lovers see, with this picture, what some go through to help, even possibly save the lives, of animals.
