Re: Renter or owner -- a host's comment

Uh....that analogy doesn't work for me. Nope, not in any way.

Was this Sue?  I like her, and sometimes she just tries to be funny.  If not, was the apt a sunny upper?  Makes a big difference. lol

The joy of ownership?

@ECBG

I find joy in owning my D&B but also in my way cheap bags. Joy doesn’t come from how much one pays.

Regarding renting vs owning compared to handbags, I didn’t see it but it sounds like a very poorly done example.

@willdob3I didn't think the example was particulary outstanding either.  'Jest sayin"!!!Smiley Happy

I’ll bet the host didn’t like it halfway through saying it! Hopefully, the bags sold themselves! Smiley Wink

@MarkeieMark, no, it was a host, not the D&B vendor (who was someone other than Sue Clifton).

I'll say one thing, i dont think the comment was important enough or of such consequence to merit 4 pages of discussion.  I understand we're desperate for discussion topics, however.

@ALRATIBA

I'm sure ur rent in a Manhattan apartment is way more than my mortgage payment - plus my taxes/insurance.

I was born in Manhattan in 1940 - when the rent was very LOW!!!!!!!!

@fourpaws56

I'm sure I'm older than u --- and bought my house brand new in 2001. Had very few repairs -- 17 yrs later.

I'm on nextdoor dot com -- and last year, I needed minor repairs so one of my neighbors took care of it and didn't even want to charge me. I did give him a few $$$$$$. I guess if someone owns an old home - that could be costly.

Re: Renter or owner -- a host's comment

Personally her analogy does not make sense.  Heck it is a bag. An expensive one versus a not so expensive one.  What does it have to do with home ownership.  Looks like she had time on her hands and nothing to say. Time better spent describing the item.
