My DIL has sent invitations via social media.
My niece's family sent out her baby shower invitations out on facebook.
It's just how younger people are using social media.
Not a big deal in my book.
@CalminHeart - The bride is in her mid 40's, not exactly in the "younger" age range. I understand using social media to reach multiple people with a single click, but are you OK with the bride usurping her hostesses and promoting her own bridal shower herself to get more people involved (aka more gifts)?

Most showers are just silly and painful to even attend. Zoom? Yes!
Bride inviting on social media? I have no problem with that and it’s incredibly judgmental to assume she only did it as a gift grab. Making assumptions when you don’t even know the truth. Maybe the bride is just excited?
Her age is irrelevant.
It's not a new excited bride behavior for this person. Sadly and unfortunately, she has a reputation for self promotion and attention seeking. I didn't even want to go to the wedding but DH said it's the right thing to do, so we are.

@LizzieInSRQ Not weird at all. I attended a Zoom shower for my BFF's daughter--she is married to a Navy officer and they were stationed in Japan at the time, so no family/friends close by, of course. Also, it was after the baby was born, so everyone could see the baby, too.
It was OK...she opened gifts, there was some conversation. It only lasted about an hour. Her older sisters hosted it.
They were in Japan no kne going to fly to Japam fir a bsby shower.. Reasonable. The OPs situation described are weirdos to me, IMO

I personally would never go to a bridal shower when the couple are in their 40's.
I would think by then they already have what it takes to set up housekeeping.
I was only 19 when I got married and requested no bridal shower. I already had everything I needed to set up a kitchen and bathroom. I collected it for years in my hope chest.
Money is great for a wedding gift, but a bridal shower is about giving a non cash gift to help get the couple started.
There are too many money grab occasions out there today.

@Carmie They live in different states and each owns their own house. They plan to keep both and spend part of the year in each. 🫤

@JeanLouiseFinch Then, scheech. What the heck are they gonna do with wedding shower gifts?
They need gas cards or plane tickets instead...Yikes!
I certainly wouldn't send anything for the shower.
A wedding gift is always in good taste if invited, but no to the wedding shower gift.
