The beautiful blond California woman, Sherri Papini, who was allegedly abducted and later released by her alleged captors, with bruises and her long blond hair all cut off and considerably thinner? She couldn't identify her attackers. Well, the plot thickens.
Thus far no arrests have been made. And the Sacramento Bee newspaper has discovered that a few years earlier, more than one member of her family had filed police reports about her, including her mother who stated that Sherri had been trying to harm herself. And other reports were filed about other bizarre behavior. Stay tuned:

Read that article earlier today. Very, very strange. I have the feeling that this is far from over.

I debated about posting this and decided against it. I don't think her kidnapping was a hoax , and people will try to make a connection between the two events
She has had a very troubled past, but she certainly didn't do everything to herself ,that happened to her ,breaking her nose, branding her, beating, starving, being dumped 150 miles from her home
I think she is more to be pitied than scorned

So strange, out of the blue a couple of days ago I was wondering about the end of this story. Thanks for the update.

@cherry I don't see anyone scorning here. We don't really know yet what happened; I'm open to any conclusion. This thread is yet another ingredient in the ongoing investigation.
As for what happened to her, I haven't reached the conclusion you have quite yet. Someone can always ask or hire others to do something. Not saying she did, but I haven't closed my mind yet about what happened as you seem to have. Nor apparently have those investigating this incident who know much more than we do.

Cherry, you are right. The snide implication was not missed.
That woman went through heck. I will wait for the facts as they come.

Yes, there were a few incidents when she was a teenager or very young adult. Far cry from being beaten up, broken nose and branded. She was branded like cattle, wasn't she?

It is a very stange case. And there are so many unsolved crimes it seems like, maybe we just hear more about them now?
I don't feel she had anything to do with this, but I have been wrong before.
It seems like someone in law enforcement there had said after they found her, that they didn't believe she had anything at all to do with it.
And I just don't think a beautiful woman would do that to herself, (all of it) let alone her children. One thing, I do believe she is a wonderful momma who would never have left those children.

There have been a couple strange incidents over the years in our state in which young women have disappeared for several weeks and then suddenly re-appeared looking battered and claiming they had been abducted. Eventually when their story didn't add up, they admitted they made the whole thing up. The reasons behind their actions remained mysterious with their families ultimately blaming mental health problems.

People can have very bizarre compulsions. They can be far stranger than most of us care to imagine. I don't know about this case, but there have been people who self-harm and mutilate themselves and, yes, even hire others to brutalize them. It's a sad form of mental illness that must be awful for them and their loved ones. I hope whatever happened to this lady the truth comes out and she gets the help she needs , whether she was a true victim of a crime or a very sick individual herself.
