Remember George Sanders?

[ Edited ]

As an ardent Sanders fan, I was beyond excited when Mr. Channing managed to track down a copy of his one and only LP-The Gorge Sanders Touch--Songs For the Lovely Lady!

It took him forever, but he found it.  George actually wrote one of the songs on it!

I admit I have, shall we say, eclectic tastes.

Have always liked him.  I just saw him in The Lodger on AMC.  Such a good actor.  Enjoy your album.

I am in the middle of that movie, 'm going to finish it tonite.

Just got Rebecca from Amazon and plan on a movie afternoon tomorow, it's supposed to rain.

I do!  I loved him in old movies.

I remember when he committed suicide, it was so sad.

Didn't know he was a singer, though.

I remember first seeing him in "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" with Gene Tierney.  He played a philandering cad.  Could never shake that from how I would see him the future.

I always associate him with "All About Eve."  He frequently played the villain.  I always felt that he was miscast in "Village Of the Damned."

@Noel7

I remember him being interviewed years ago.  One of the things asked was what he intended to do if or when he retired. He said, and I paraphrase, "I'm going to do myself in at he age of 65, because there's nothing left after that."

I think I was depressed for a month after hearing that.

Hi @sfnative

I looked up Wiki comments on his death and they said he was suffering from dementia and several debilitating health issues.  His girl friend had somehow talked him into selling the house in Spain that he loved and he regretted it.

It seemed as if he saw no reason to go on.  What a sad ending for him.
