@Kachina624 Welcome!🥰 WOW!😲 I had to read that twice because initially I thought it read 1.80 cents per gallon!!!!😁
THANK you SO much for caring to share that jaw-dropping price!🤗

I don't remember the ice cream prices, but I do remember having to be home before the street lights came on. I remember getting either 50 cents or a dollar for allowance and spending it all at 7-11 on candy. I remember going on long trips and sleeping on the backseat's rear window's ledge(?) I don't know the exact name of it.

@Imaoldhippie Welcome!🥰 Ah... I remember penny candy well!❤️ My friends or family and I would sometimes pool our spare change, and buy small a small brown bag of it! Everyone had PLENTY of candy to savor that day, and sometimes beyond!😁

I think that is so neat about NJ.
And another great thing and I don't know if it's still the same but it's the only state I've ever driven in that you actually are only supposed to use the left lane for passing! And people actually followed it!
Some states have weird laws and some have some pretty good ones!

@PA Mom-mom wrote:@SandySparkles Oh, my! That ice cream reference brings back memories. Dad paid us five or ten cents for doing planting or weeding in the garden. We had to work all week for that nickle or dime. A nickle bought a single cone, a dime bought a double, and 15 cents bought a triple. I saved up my money to buy a root beer float for 25 cents. My favorite and so worth the wait! (1950's)
@PA Mom-mom Welcome!🥰 I smiled warmly as I read your post because it reminded me of how HARD children would work for allowance, and were MOST grateful!❤️
Some children today feel ENTITLED to their parents hard earned money, and would not work for an allowance or a paid after school job if you begged them to! My how times have changed!😊

I remember when gas stations pumped your gas, washed windshield, checked air in tires and gave your kid a Hot Wheels collectors car.
@cody2 Welcome!🥰 I remember full sevice at the pump also as an adult!!! I often wore dresses and pumps and LOVED❤️ not having to exit the car to pump gas! My children were always excited to see the windshield sprayed and washed!😁

@SueyMsB Welcome!🥰 You are now the envy of everyone not fortunate enough to reside in the state of New Jersey!😂

@KKJ wrote:I remember going to corner store and getting a candy bar for a nickel. Not a good thing, but I also remember when young my dad sending me to same corner store to get him a pack of cigarettes!
@KKJ Welcome!🥰 I am glad you mentioned the cigarettes! My dear mother was a chain smoker for years before quitting, and would do the same with me! All it took was a signed note from her at the time!😐
