Re: Relationships Matter (Long)

@lolakimono I know what your fears are.  I've been there many times.

I had a born teacher whom had all A's.  I met her parents when she was a junior.  They didn't want her to have any training beyond college.  "They had gotten along (probably with difficulties) and she would as well.".

The mother had received training in the bank she worked for.  I knew from being in banking all through college and in summers before we had our children, she was in the low paying positions.  You can't really advance

without a higher education.

I later found out there was a religious reason and a reason they frowned on women receiving higher education.  I had to let go.  She belonged to her parents.  I was her teacher.  It killed me!  WHAT a loss.

Re: Relationships Matter (Long)

Unfortunately, there are more students like this young man than many may ever know. I am surprised his counselor had not helped him with the college application process and with his GPA so high, am also surprised they did not have him flagged for potential national merit potential. Thank you for being his safety net so he can see what a whole other world awaits him if can go to college and study things he loves.

Sending positives thoughts for both students.

(How awesome, if this young woman attends college, too.)

You are going above and beyond and you will be rewarded!

You are a 🌟 🌟🌟!

I come from a family of teachers, I am the 5th generation.  Being able to reach out and make a difference is a  gift - you have it!

Frequently we have the discussion here on this BB about people who pull themselves ‘up by the bootstraps’ , and have the expectation that everyone can / should do the same for themselves.   ***   Then there are some of us who believe that working as hard as anyone possibly can doesn’t work out for everyone.  Sometimes opportunity just doesn’t present it’s self equally.

You have changed this person’s life.  YOU GO GIRL!

What a gift for both of you, neither of you will ever forget it.

I’m sending out on the winds, good wishes, and hopes for the best for this student, and for you.

@lolakimono , I love your story.  There is no doubt in my mind this young man will blossom because of your intervention.  We need more people like you who will go beyond the call of duty to help deserving students flourish.  You have changed more than one life here, of that I am sure.  God Bless❤️.
