@SilleeMee. Then why did the horrified posters stay and interact with the troll? Makes no sense.

I think the Thanksgiving troll pulled up very old threads, by putting "I agree" or "you're right," to the point that every current thread was pushed off the first page and all you saw were the old threads.

And then somebody started a thread pointing this out.

So people weren't so much engaging the troll as they were trying to get the current threads back up to the front pages.

Really, you have to give the forum credit.  That's about the extent of abusive trolling these days.

Re: Regarding this forum on Thanksg.

I'll be here on Thanksgiving.  We don't have our dinner until the evening.  I do have to fix my sweet potato casserole, but that doesn't take too long.

What I remember mostly was the profanity and deliberate insults to people here in general. I don't recall any one particular thread where several posters were engaging but that could be because I wasn't getting involved to see it actually happen. @proudlyfromNJ

It was pretty bad and you couldn’t miss it.  There were pages and pages and many, many different postings all in caps.

i have no idea why posters kept interacting.  They should have just ignored it.  I wasn’t horrified, but it was like a train wreck you just couldn’t stop looking at.  There were even pictures to help you get a clear sense... LOL

The vile comments had had to do with the birthday boy.. all religious in nature.  It brought the Bible thumpers out in droves.

First I'll say that I don't think I was here that day so I don't remember that situation but I've seen it here a zillion times.

One thing about many on this board is that they will always feed a troll.  They will give the troll exactly what it comes for.  Many of us try to tell people every single time to NOT engage and then the troll doesn't get what it wants.  But every single time...

It's really even more frustrating than the trolling, that numerous people will feed it and feed it and feed it.  It must be a lot of fun to be a troll on this board. On most boards everybody just completely ignores it and they just don't come back because that's no fun for them.

Re: Regarding this forum on Thanksg.

On Christmas Eve last year, I took a screenshot of one of the posts &

sent it to the social team since it wasn’t being addressed 24-hrs later.

I just now re-read that sent email.

Oooof.

The derogatory comments to posters in general was yes, inappropriate,

but it was the profanity which was the worst. Spaces between the letters

so the word was clearly written.

Really bad. Made the QVC Community Social Team appear very incompetent. Hope they learned from that mistake.

@chickenbutt

I wish that was true about the effects of ignoring a troll but it isn’t.  It depends on what the payoff is for that person.  Sometimes just seeing their own nasty comment is enough of a thrill for them.

Re: Regarding this forum on Thanksg.

Looks like Melvin is working the forum on turkey day, so it will be up and running. I won't have time to check in during the day, but I will no doubt check it out at night. I don't want to miss anything.LOL
