All my life, I've had hand-me-down furniture. Some was very nice and others were to get by.  I just bought a new sofa with matching chair and ottoman. They will be delivered next week. What a treat!

@Kachina624 that is a room size area rug over wood floors. 

Rug on rug is a trip and fall hazard.

@CelticCrafter. I've always used a 3X5 or larger rug over carpet and nobody has ever tripped because I use a special rug to rug pad.  It keeps the rug completely flat, nor does it shift.
