There are some steps you will have to take, but once you follow them, the company will send you a new base. You will have to locate your serial number and you will have to cut a rubber seal in three parts, then upload photo of it and send it to them. You will then be able to get a free replacement base. There's a place to check your serial number to make sure it's included in this recall or you can just call the number I gave you and they will check.
You can look for explicit directions on the Consumer Product Safety Commission site. There are easy to follow photos. You can also call them or go to their website. Just put BlendJet2 recall into your search bar and you should be able to get to the correct places.
The title of the recall page at the CPSC site is BlendJet Recalls 4.8 Million BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders Due to Fire and Laceration Hazards
You can just put this title into your search bar and you can see everything you need to do, get all directions and pertinent information right on government's CPSC webpage for this recall.
You can also to check for serial numbers on a separate page too, or just call and they will check for you. I'd rather call and be sure. If you want to check separately on the page online they have a tool. Units where the first 4 digits of the serial number are between 5201-5542 and are subject to the recall can be identified through the use of the “Is my BlendJet 2 Recalled?” tool located at blendjet dot com /safetyandrecall.
