Artificial for us.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

....artificial because I have always had a cat. He climbs real trees and topples them over. So, we haven't been able to have a real tree in many, many years. I usually buy a wreath so I can have the pine fragrance in my home.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

We had real trees for many years, since childhood. I am very happy with artificial trees now. We can put them up after Thanksgiving and leave up till New Years and not worry about the needles all falling off. I remember how horrible and messy a real tree was, not fitting in the stand, toppling over and falling needles. Another thing is how small a real tree looks until you try to get it into your house and it completely fills the room. LOL

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

For many years my family owned a garden center and selling the trees was a big part of it. As it was a family business you were neither hired or fired you just "volunteered" I can not tell you how much tree sap I would come with. With that said we always had a real tree, but several years ago my DD suggested I get a artificial one and since then I have always had one. I do miss the smell but I always get real branches and some roping to have that real pine smell in the house. It is much easier as far as clean up. I do love to decorate so that still can be done without any change.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

I got an artificial tree because real trees just left such a mess. Darned if the fake tree doesn't leave a bunch of needles everywhere too, LOL.

I probably would not get a real tree again because I get antsy about it being a fire hazard. They are beautiful and smell lovely though.

Re: Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

We used to have real ones...until we got a cat that loved to play in the tree water! She'd run round and round the tree slapping at the water until it was all over her and the floor. Cats climbing real trees also make a mess with needles.

Like others have mentioned, the only thing I miss about a real tree is that wonderful smell. We always got Fraser firs, and they were heavenly!
