The prediction for my state is a yuck.

Cold and dry for SE Nebraska doesn't sound healthy for the farmers or our lawns, shrubs and trees. The Farmer's Almanac is usually fairly accurate so I'll water my yard deeply this fall and hope everything survives without the normal snow (moisture) we receive.
Interesting post! Thanks.

I used to love to purchase the Farmers Almanac to read the predictions and other articles.... But I dont know what has happened to them....they seem to now be following the INACCURATE computer models for their predictions like the TV weathercast and now they cant be counted on..... Last winter they predicted our winter would be "warmer and mild" but as you know our winter broke records due to the artic storm that we experienced with colder than normal temperatures and even lots of snow! Ill keep my fingers crossed and hope their prediction is accurate at least for the "cold" part ....

Give me the cold any day over the HOT, HUMID weather.
I know I'm in the south, but I would even take some snowflakes. I pray every year when I go to NY for snow - even have my granddaughters do the snow dance.

@Spurt As I said earlier in the thread, I too find their predictions to be very inaccurate. Yes, I remember your disaster last winter.
