Hi, again, Scottie! Theoretically it could cause a problem on a website, depending upon how their software is written. But on a site like this one, the only thing that might be affected is the individual's experience on their device. I think some people notice, for example, if a thread has multiple images it takes a wee bit longer to display on their device as opposed to a thread with text only.

Maybe they realize they need to make space for the proliferation of shout out threads a la ""Poster Are You Here"" when we can no longer check the list to see if someone is signed in.

Long-standing threads never bothered me. People like familiarity and it makes it easy for them to post in one thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read that these threads could be restarted on January 1. Under the same or a similar name. How hard would it be for the regular posters to find each other?
