This week I received a new dress in the mail and tried it on as I always do. It has a halter neck that fits quite snug, but it’s ok. A couple days later I have a red itchy rash on my neck that goes all the way around. I think it must have been from the dress. I am so upset, it looks awful and it’s bothering me. I’m going to have it dry cleaned to see if it helps. Anybody have this happen? I never did. I did not use any new skin products this week nor did I wear any necklaces so it must be that dress. So weird. And it’s a fabric I’ve worn before without incident. Now I gotta great this rash with something.

It might not be the fabric - maybe the dye or just plain old dirt from the manufacturing process.

What is the fabric made of. It is sized?

If you have not done so, wash the dress to get out all of the chemicals that are used in the manufacturing process.  Then, try on the dress and see if the rash returns.  No one really knows what fabrics are exposed to.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

@Grouchomarx

In the meantime ... for the rash - there's a clear lotion called Caladryl Clear that's great for rashes.  Walgreen's or CVS or similar.

I certainly would not continue shopping here if I were having so many issues.

Re: Rash from new clothes?

[ Edited ]

@Grouchomarx   It could be the type of halter design that rubbed on your neck.

   Tags in the necks really bother me now and they didn’t used to. I cut them out immediately!

   I don’t purchase anything that can’t be washed due to the dry cleaning chemicals (and expense). I wear items once then wash them.

   I hope the rash gets better soon! Aveeno lotion is good.

I bought some athletic Zella socks from Nordstrom at one of their anniversary sales. My ankles broke out in a rash. Nordstrom took back my socks after wearing them a couple of times, to be sure & washing them. Nordstrom is the best.

I'm not sure I would dry clean it - you're just adding more chemicals to it.

If I can't be washed I would send it back to where ever it came from.
