Rare Photo Of Vincent Van Gogh

May be an image of 1 person

A rare photograph of Vincent Van Gogh taken in 1873 when he was 19 years old. When the image was taken, Vincent worked for the Goupil & Cie art dealership in The Hague, shortly before being relocated to their branch in London, England. It is the only known photograph of Van Gogh's face. Credit: lori.follart.history_in_color

Thank you!  I didn't know he was a redhead, aka ginger.

Interesting to look at some of the many self-portraits.

That's a great photo.  When I was studying for my Masters we did a dive into Van Gogh...speculation was he had Borderline Personality D/O, was BiPolar and was also an alcoholic.  Sadly, he died by suicide. I love his art...very deep.

Many years ago when my children were in elementary school, the PTA offered a "Picture Lady Program" wherein a parent volunteered to take a famous work of art into the classroom, give background on the artist and discuss the portrait with the children.

I always loved doing Van Gogh's Starry Night as the children loved that one and offered so many things they saw or felt in the art.

That is amazing. I love to hear children's thoughts. i am always taken back as to how much those  little minds take in. They come up with such deep insights at times
