Rainshower head vs. smaller, standard type

Do you have a preference? We have the old, small, standard type of shower head, and I like that it has GREAT water pressure. When we travel and stay in a hotel, I always feel like I'm standing out in a rain drizzle, trying to get the shampoo thoroughly rinsed out of my hair.

We need to pick a new shower valve/shower head. You can still buy the smaller head like we have, but they seem to be on the lower end, cheaper models. So many of the newer-type models come with the rainshower head, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with that and end up replacing it with the small type.

Seems like a waste to me to spend more to buy a larger rainshower head (which comes with the valve/trim kits that we like), only to end up spending some more to replace it if I don't like it. If I use the rainshower type for a while, I might get used to it. I've only used it for a day (or several) when we're at a hotel. Maybe the higher-pressured, small head just gives the illusion that it's rinsing better(?).

If you went from the higher-pressure type to a rainshower head, did you end up getting used to it...or did you not end up liking it as well? Would appreciate any of your thoughts about this. I know it's not a topic of huge interest, but we're coming off a period of strict penny-pinching at our house, and we're trying to keep from wasting too much money on a bad choice. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I'm worried that since I already THINK that I don't like the rainshower head as well, I'm kidding myself to think that I'll end up liking it after all.

TIA!
