@QVCkitty1   Yes, I enjoyed Car Talk too!  The Magliozzi brothers were entertaining even while teaching us a little bit about cars.  I sometimes wonder if the show would do as well today since so much of a car is computer controlled - i.e., it seems there would be less to talk about.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with radio in my area.  I got a Bose some time ago and there's only one station, all classical, that I can tolerate.  I get tired of a steady classical diet.  Everything else is loud and intrusive.  IMO radio has really gone to pot and is certainly not worth the price of a Bose.

@Kachina624 , My local radio is not good, so I use the I ❤️Radio App.

@QVCkitty1    I❤Radio is great but I can't get it on a Bose, which is a technological dinosaur.

@ValuSkr , You could be right, but I was never interested in cars, but I enjoyed it anyway.

I do love music and play my CD's when I am doing my house chores or just relaxing.  I also listen to the radio especially when I am in the car.  I love Jazz and Blues and listen to a great station with a variety of singers and instrumentals.  I found a station that plays music from the past which I now listen to also.  Radio, CD"s, whatever, I think music definitely calms,  relaxes, brings back wonderful memories, and just adds sunshine to my life!!!!!

@QVCkitty1   Point well taken!  Those two would be entertaining no matter what they talked about!  Smiley Happy

@kaydee50

Never had a transistor radio. At home I set up my own improvised sound systems. Set them up before there was even stereophonic sound, just mono. Added a few speakers with rheostats on each, and a reverb! Created my own surround sound.

Same in my cars. If I wasn't at home or in my car, I was working. The jobs I worked were physical type jobs, no time to listen to music.

Love music and played a few instruments my sister and I  had when home.

@QVCkitty1  You really got me to thinking! I loved to listen to WFIL and WIBG in Philly and WABC in NY. I also remember taking my transistor radio to school to listen to baseball games on the bus on the way home (probably playoffs or world series games). My favorite time with the radio was listening to the Metropolitan Opera (sponsored by Texaco) on Saturday afternoons with my grandfather in his sitting room. He was a Mennonite minister and wasn't really supposed to indulge in such a worldly activity, but he just loved it, and so did I.

@QVCkitty1   I listen to WFMT, the classical radio station here in Chicago, every day.

@kaydee50

I switch between WFMT and WDCB (the jazz station coming from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn).

On Saturdays it's all WDCB, which has old time radio shows; When Jazz was King (early jazz and blues from the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s).  I just finished listening to Jack Benny ...

As a teenager, my radio was always on when I was in my room; weekends and summers I was tuned in until the station went off the air.

I listened to the radio going to and from work for 27 years.

Been retired for 10 years and have not turned a radio on inside the house, and could probably count on one hand the number of times I've turned the radio on in my car.
