My poor sweet 13 y/o orange tabby baby has made medical history here in PA. He developed thyroid disease at the age of about 6 and was put on meds that had to be constantly monitored and changed. Anyway, fast forward to August of this year, the poor baby was down to 6 pounds, (his best weight is 10) meds were no longer working so I decided to have him sent away to get radioctive iodine treatment. It's very pricey but guaranteed and most cats are cured after one dose. It's not pleasant though, they are away for 5 days in isolation and then have to be some what quarantined at home, no human contact and special litter.

Needless to say the first time did not take, so back he went.....the second time also did not take and I was really upset. The place that does this was also stumped, they had never ever in all their years had a cat who did not respond after two treatments. The wonderful doc consulted vets all over the Country and came up with the idea to treat him a third time with triple the amount of iodine. He then had to stay away for 10 days....which about broke my heart. Anyway, fast forward to last week...his blood work is back and his levels are that of a normal cat and he has put on 5 pounds!!!

i can not say enough good things about Pet Rad in Norristown, I don't think he would have lived much longer if the iodine had not taken this last time. He's now getting chubby for the first time in his life!!

Many have come and gone, but they all left paw prints on my heart
