I met her about twenty years ago when I taught school. She approached me while at the school to say hello. I thought she was so down to earth and beautiful. She will surely be missed!

I grew up in the town where they lived in New York. I went to grammar school with Nora Davis, Ruby and Ossie's daughter. I would often see Ruby in the A&P supermarket. Also going to my school was Beverly Poitier daughter of Sidney Poitier. I don't remember seeing Mr. Portier though. I'm sure they were at all the school assemblies though. That was a long time ago. Ruby Dee was so pretty. I remember that.

I know they lived in New Rochelle, NY, is that where you grew up, I live in a neighboring town
