I've wanted to ask how your tests for SLE came out, but you may not want to respond on this board.  I hope all is well with you.

Along the same line as Bob Harper, you might want to know those with SLE are 50 times more at risk for a heart attack than anyone in the general population.

@Noel7I have two new physicians who seem to be stumped on how to proceed. I think now I am seeing a distinct pattern of auto-immune disease that is also affecting kidney function and my heart. I did test positive for the discussion we had previously. It is depressing to say the least and I am going to see someone who not only practices medicine but is highly involved in research.

I continue to try to stay optimistic but I confess, this was a new diagnosis that I never expected.

I will help you in any way I can, @Trinity11  I'm sorry Heart

Since there is no cure, and very little in the way of direct treatment, I say the hope lies in also seeing other specialists, like the cardiologist and a nephrologist.  Our guys can't be on top of it all, and lives are often saved by the latest treatments by heart and/or kidney specialists.

@Noel7, I have a wonderful cardiologist and I am seeing someone highly recommended for the other issues. Thanks so much for your support.

Like yourself, we just have to stay positive and do our best. I find myself appreciating the little things that I once took for granted.... Just a small trip to the supermarket today made me proud of myself for just getting out of the house. It felt good.....

So I guess that means eating the foods which cause the

most inflammation...meat, dairy, oils.

Of course it's the food...and his over-exercising causing inflammation.

Good for you @Trinity11

On an SLE board, some years ago, I read a post from a woman who said it was important for her to use pretty nail polish and change it every week.  It made her feel better.  I was surprised that so many other women wrote back to say it was important to them too.

I'm very sad for Erin Moran. She had the most beautiful eyes and smile. RIP.

Scott Baio's comments are very unfortunate. I don't give a ....what his affiliations are. They just are on a basic human level, I don't understand how that's difficult to see. He's not a victim of anything other than his foot in mouth disease and not thinking and reflecting before speaking.

Nicely done, Noel.

You and Trinity are having a valuable conversation.

Now is not the time for this hectoring.  What started as a poster's opinion has now morphed into outright spam, I think.

Why has this turned into a Scott Baio bashing thread?

There are many out there in the public who would say similar or worse about the person.  There are also many that could care less if at all.

I know why. Yes he was blunt and the timing was wrong. People who love other people get frustrated with others life choices. He loved her as a friend. He should not have said what he did especially since it has come out she likely died of cancer. But IMO the backlash of him is bullying and we know why.

EXACTLY!

I wonder HOW LONG it will go on.....good grief, people on this board are more upset about what he said than the fact that a person died...............

Of course he shouldn't have said what he did, but get off his back, he's only human.

On another note, I read that she was so poorly (according to her husband), that she had a feeding tube......she had Stage 4 cancer, apparently; yet they claimed there were no pain meds in the home.

It would seem to me she would need some...

I see 3 of the Board Police are here.

How comforting.

Show your badges please............

REALLY?

Wow! I made it to police status & I didn't even attend the academy!!!

BTW I want a raise.

The police aren't paid enough.

Re: RIP Erin Moran ~ Actress

Just read where Erin's brother (and entire family) had no idea she had cancer.

He (and many others) naturally assumed she died from years and years of drug abuse.  He figured a heart attack.

Said she started smoking pot and drinking around 16 and then got into cocaine and other drugs.  The brother was also doing drugs at the same time.  They couldn't really help each other.

Erin stayed distant from her family in recent years.  Her brother said the last he *saw* of her was in a magazine picture and accompanying article about her being homeless and hooked on drugs.

Said the parents all along had been *unfit* to be parents.

Very sad ending for her.
