It gets me how people think they know how things are done in a company. People come, people go ... happens in every company. QVC is no different. Reality check.

I'm sure many, many discussions take place before anyone on air is let go. Sales performance, past reviews, contracts for talent that would have to be paid out vs. those that may be expiring, as well as how the individual fits into their "equal opportunity" goals.
I'm sure they took a look at every one of the on-air talent when layoffs are being considered. Discussions are held to not appear to be letting one particular group, or those of a certain age be the ones that are cut.
As for the worker bees, those are usually done based on performance, reviews, complaints and length of service.
It's sad that anyone is is let go through no fault of their own, but it's a business, not a family - even if QVC wants us to think it's all about family.

@Tori3569 I have lived through layoffs where individuals were given well more then 30 days notice. It was awful since they were expected to perform like nothing had happpened while the rest of the us working side by side were in shock and felt so bad for them and didn't know if there were more layoffs coming.
Many, many, many years ago, I lived through a big layoff and there was so much work left for those that were still working. That's when I heard the saying that "the survivors envy the dead", since many wished they had been let go since those that did received severance and unemployment pay. I was glad to leave when it was my time to move on.

I don't think anyone needs to be concerned about the hosts who are gone. They had contracts that were severed for whatever reason, they had financial protections under that contract for situations like this. That contract also had a silence clause, so they cannot say anything more than confirm they no longer work at QVC. Their lives will go on as usual.
How do you know this? Have you seen their contracts?

I'm so sad to see that Gabrielle is leaving. She is such a wonderful presenter and I've always appreciated her consistent approach to products. However, no one can turn a sows ear into a silk purse. Thank you to Gabrielle for a job well done.

I was friends with a high level executive and she told me once that you negotiate your severance payout when you are negotiating being hired for the job......aka golden parachute.
I doubt that the hosts had a "golden" parachute, but probably had a silver one. Probably with some sort of a non-compete clause thrown in, and a strict "no comments bashing the company" in order to get paid.
I wonder if some of them are reading our thoughts and posts. If so, good luck to you and you'll be missed!

Even in the best families, parents sometimes find it necessary, for a variety of reasons, to push a kid out of the house. There is no lifetime guarantee with jobs or families. The hosts will shed some tears, hike up their big girl panties and move on to the next big thing.

When I was still working, the company I worked for (when downsizing), told the specific management person being let go that they had an hour to clean out their belongings, take their keys and escort them from the building.Union personel had it a little better. It's always a sad situation, especially if you are older but not old enough to retire.
