Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

Having moved from the desert to PA, I'd say watch out what you wish for. I think it was just a summer or 2 ago that parts of PA were considered in a drought. I might get rain dreary, but I'm thankful for the rain (sans flooding).

Tuesday will bring some wicked storms so here we go with tornado warnings again.

At least we don't have to worry about tornados and humidity, hurricanes and winds.  We do get an occasional haboob in the summer and the humidity does go up a few days a year.

I'm in the low desert of Southern CA. We will be in the 100s until into October. We have similar weather to the Phoenix, AZ area. We also are in a rural agricultural area so July - September it is also high humidity during those months...we call them The Ugly Months, lol.

Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

@Meowingkitty   From now until October whatever shopping I have to do, I do before 8 in the morning.  Also, grocery deliveries same:  8 AM.

I lived in CT for 25 yrs.  After the blizzard of '89 where I LITERALLY THOUGHT I wouldn't physically SURVIVE because no traffic was moving, the windshield wipers on my car stopped working, my car stalled and my 8 y.o. daughter was home ALONE (school let out early) in a freezing house without electicity (am tearing up just writing this),  It took me 8 HOURS to get home and I only made it because I followed the town snow plow for the final 2 miles to my house.  That was the day I decided to leave the NE FOREVER!

I endure the summer heat in AZ because it IS NOT LIFE THREATENING.  The word "SNOW" is a 4-letter word to me.  When I see news reports of blizzards in the rest of the Country, I immediately reach for my remote.  Very traumatic for me.  I'll stick to the heat!!  LOL

Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

My state has been in a severe drought for a few years. As of this week, no drought and some parts are flooding, all because of this year's rain.

Storms are getting worse. Science tells us why. It'll get worse until priorities at all levels change. In many ways, I'm glad I'm this old so I don't have to live to see or go through what's coming down the road.

Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

South Jersey here, Cool and wet so far this year. There have been years I've had the AC on in March, here we are past mid-May, and it's not been turned on once. And it probably won't be on the rest of the month. Three days in the low to mid-eighties next week then back to the seventies after that through June second. Five of the ten days in the ten-day forecast have rain. Lots of clouds and lots of rain are in the forecast.

I was trying to look online to see our rainfall total for the year, I suspect we're well above normal, but no one seems to mention it unless we're below normal. If we're even a quarter of an inch below normal they're screaming drought, but we can be up to our eyeballs in rain and no one says anything.

Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

Hi @Tinkrbl44  I'm about an hour north from Boca now.

I think you said she was only there a few years? 80 with A /C is pretty warm for here.  Mold is very easy to get inside the home and that's no picnic.  I've known people who kept there homes at 80 and they got mold.  Termites like warmth as well.

It's just a mess let's face it, lol.

And one more thing - I'll take Arizona anyday over Florida because of the low humidity there.  My brother lived outside Vegas for 5 years.  He knows both and said it wasn't as bad as Florida.

He did say they had alot of dust as in dust storms.

I don't understand the lure for very hot climates like Phoenix.  Each summer is getting hotter.  There might be a point in which it will be uninhabitable.  Why would you live there instead of Flagstaff?.  A much, much cooler place.  You still have the benefit of retirement friendly state. But you would be a lot cooler.

Re: RAIN, Make It Stop Already !!

@songbird  I get what your saying but Flagstaff is hours away, a small town where most retiree's would like more things to do in a big city.  I find Scottsdale, Old town, all lovely places to live.
