Quilts all the way for me! Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I am an all cotton girl when it comes to my bedding.

@catwhisperer ....... lightweight cotton bedspreads are always in stock at the Vermont Country Store.   I've purchased three over the last 30 or so years (Eileen West, Abigail, and Pastel Dreams) and have always been satisfied with the quality.  Wash like a dream!

Like other posters, I no longer want to sleep with anything that's been doused with drycleaning chemicals....I much prefer being able to wash myself and know what I'm breathing in all night.

@Moonchilde, I haven't read all pages on this thread, so I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but quilt batting (the middle layer) runs a huge range from cotton to synthetic to wool materials.  Each has a different thickness and warmth level.

I'm a quilter, so I make all of my own quilts for my home and as gifts for relatives and friends. I have always made bed quilts for summertime that have very lightweight "cool" batting, but when I make quilts for winter month use, I always use specialized batting specifically made for warmth. Of course, I don't know if commercially-made quilts give you that batting info. so that you can know if it's a good choice for warmer or cooler months.

I use quilts all year long.  With a blanket for the winter we are plenty warm enough through the night.

I never cared for the puffiness of a comforter.

When I make my quilts, they are 100% cotton - front, back and batting.

I love the look of a quilt after it's been washed and dried.

Re: Quilt or Comforter?

[ Edited ]

I can't tell you how many quilts I have ... my houseguests love when I change them regularly in the spare bedrooms when they visit.  Two my grandmother made ... two were purchased during visits to Amish stores; two or three were ordered from the Q during the early days of  quality merchandise. (One was designed by Mary Beth.)

I also love comforters ... I've purchased two this year alone; and one white lace to-the-floor spead with matching shams ... just a sucker for a beautiful bedroom, I guess.

I had forgotten about this! VCS bedspreads aren't my particular style, but they have many, all good brands and good quality. Happy hunting @catwhisperer!

@forest4thetrees I love your nic!

@AspenGrove, from what some reviewers of this quilt have said it's fairly light - but I guess that's subjective depending on where one lives. It doesn't get snow-cold where I am, so I hope it will be fine with a blanket underneath in the colder months. Thanks for your helpful info 🙂

Thanks, @Citrine1 😀

Here I was all excited to get it, and it won't ship until mid September and won't arrive til the beginning of October! And the shipping costing and arm and a leg at that. Fingers crossed it's as stunning as the photo.
