Lots of companies have been doing "quiet firing" for decades, especially when the employee is getting close to retiring and getting their pension. Sadly,  I know many people who were victims of this when they were within a couple of months of retirement eligibility.
Quiet quitting =lack of work ethic.
Quiet firing=attempt to cheat employees out of retirement benefits by forcing an employee to quit due to making working conditions intolerable.

@Trailrun23 My BIL moved his family from Ohio to Alaska when a big oil company transfered him.  He worked up there for years and was abruptly "let go" when he was so very close to getting the lifetime health benefits.  I am sure the company planned the timing of this.  So he was stuck up there, scrambling to find other employment.
