Re: Question to those who are retired

I retired at 72, however, I left work for 18 years and raised 4 children--feel very fortunate that I was able to do that--returned to work at 40--loved my job but felt here were more years behind me than in front of me--I was in commercial property management and got to meet people from lots of different backgrounds--I miss that but have had a lot of quality time with our 8 Grandkids--Husband's health isn't good and I am able to do things for him--there is a season for all things--Feeling pretty Blessed

Re: Question to those who are retired

About two years ago at age 60, I decided on a Friday evening that I had enough and went to work on Monday morning and handed in my resignation and left.

I had three weeks vacation left, so I took that immediately and made my resignation date three weeks ahead.

I have never looked back.

Re: Question to those who are retired

I worked 12 years past my retirement date because I loved working.  I am retired but have no interest in hobbies.  We are still both type A's and tend to be busy all the time either going somewhere, meeting friends, doing things to the house, or involved in some big cooking project. There are lots of things to do where we live.

We try to find time to read a lot, but that is hard to do.

Re: Question to those who are retired

In 2009 I was diagnoised with COPD, Diabities, Sleep Apnea, and artirtis. I was the caretaker for my parents and working full time and caring for them really took a toll on my health.

Near the end of 2014 my body could not take anymore and I had to apply for disablility.

Trust me I would rather be working. I miss the people and I miss the money. Disability pays nothing.

My dad passed away in 2015, at least I had those last months with him 24/7.   I moved back home to Michigan from Alabama to be with my other relatives.   If it wasnt for my brother helping me with rent I would probably be on the street.

I really would like to find some kind of part time work but it would have to be a job where I can sit down and use my oxygen if I need too.  Oh well at least I am still kicking.
